Casey Martin (b. 1989) is a native of Long Beach, California and is currently living in Austin, Texas. His compositional output spans a wide variety of genres and mediums, including chamber music, large ensemble concert music, fixed media electronic music, short film scores, and music for table-top RPG's. Casey's music has been performed  by a number of the county's top ensembles, with a recent premier by Jerry Junkin and the University of Texas Wind Ensemble. In 2015 and 2016 Casey was commissioned by UT trumpet professor Ray Sasaki to write the pieces that the UT Trumpet Ensemble would compete in the National Trumpet Competition with. The 2016 ensemble,  which Casey was a member of, won 2nd place in the Large Ensemble Division performing The Autonomy of Machines. In late 2016 Casey and Jeffrey de Seriere, Director of Instrumental Music at California School of the Arts-San Gabriel Valley, set up a crowd-funded consortium in which nine schools, organizations, and individuals commissioned Casey to compose a new work for chamber wind ensemble (Strange Dreams and Lullabies). Casey was commissioned by Jeffrey de Seriere and True Brass Choir in 2014 to compose Symphony No. 1 Ocean for brass ensemble, which was premiered in June 2015 at the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific.
Along with composing, Casey maintains an active career as a trumpet player. He served as principal trumpet of the Los Angeles-based Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra from 2013-2014 under the baton of Roger Kalia. He has competed in the ensemble divisions of the National Trumpet Competition for several, having placed 2nd with the University of Texas Trumpet Ensemble in 2016 and 3rd with the Cal State Long Beach Trumpet Ensemble in 2013, in which he was the featured soloist.  Also in 2013 he was featured as a soloist with the Bob Cole Conservatory Wind Symphony.

Casey received bachelor's degrees in trumpet performance and composition from California State University Long Beach where he studied trumpet with Rob Frear and David Washburn and composition with Alan Shockley, Adriana Verdie, Robin Cox, Martin Herman, Carolyn Bremer, and Ryan Brown. He received his master's degree in composition from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016  where he studied composition with Dan Welcher, Russell Pinkston, and Yevgeniy Sharlat and trumpet with Ray Sasaki.
